FAQ

What if it is raining on the day of my shoot?

If the weather is not suitable on the day of your shoot, you will be able to reschedule to another day at no extra cost. Shoots are rescheduled due to extreme wind, rain and extreme heat. You will be given at least 1 hour notice that your shoot needs to be rescheduled. If there has been a significant amount of rain leading up to the shoot date, your shoot may need to be rescheduled due to the grounds being unsuitable for a photoshoot e.g. too muddy at a chosen park location or the seas are too rough at a chosen beach location.

If Photography by Sharnee deems the weather (or grounds of the chosen location) unsuitable to go ahead with the scheduled photoshoot, we will reschedule to a new date at the earliest convenience for both the client & Photography by Sharnee.

We can still shoot in overcast weather, as long as the rain holds off. Whilst I can't guarantee the perfect sunrise or sunset colours, I can assure you that your photos will still be beautiful even if it turns out to be overcast!

What is the difference between a pet shoot and a family shoot?

Pet photoshoots are focused on your dog! During a pet shoot, your pooch will be the star of the show! Of course, all pet photoshoot packages can include a couple of 'pets and their people' shots, but the shoot is focused on your pooch!

A family photoshoot is focused on the human family members. Your family will be photographed in a way that captures your special bond. Of course, pets are a part of the family too, so you are welcome to bring your pooch (if the chosen location allows dogs) to be in a couple of shots, but the photoshoot will be focused on your human family members!

What time will my photoshoot be?

Photoshoots are best suited to early morning (sunrise) or late afternoon (a little bit before sunset). This is because the light is much nicer at these times and there is usually less people and other dogs (which means less distractions for your pooch). It also means that during Summer months, we are not out in the hottest part of the day for our photoshoot.
Your location choice will also impact time of the day - some locations are better suited to morning, others are better suited to afternoon. This will be outlined in the location guide when booking in your shoot.

Can I have a photoshoot at my home?

Unfortunately, unless it is an extreme circumstance I am unable to offer an in-home session for your dog. I have a number of locations that are suitable for dogs with health conditions & reactive dogs.

If you have a puppy under 3 months old who isn't fully vaccinated, it is recommended to wait two weeks after their final puppy vaccination to book a location photoshoot.

What should I wear to my photoshoot?

It is important to consider your outfit for your photoshoot.
- Blue denim (bottoms) and white (top) is recommended.
- Earthy/neutral tones are also recommended.
- Please avoid wearing clothing that is bright coloured, is patterned, or have large logos across them. Also avoid wearing puffer jackets/vests.
- Black clothing is not recommended as it shows every single bit of fluff, dog fur, sand, etc.
- Please ensure that your hair is neat and tidy. It is recommended to style it so that it is pulled back off your face.
- Makeup is optional. If you choose to wear makeup, neutral colours are highly recommended. Please do not wear highlighter as this is reflective in photos.
- It is also important to consider your footwear - some locations we will be walking longer distances, so you want something that is comfy as well as something that will look nice for photos. Try to match your footwear to the location. E.g. sneakers don't suit the beach as well as sandals.

The more everyone matches their outfits together, the better your photos will turn out!

What if my dog can't be off lead in a public area?

That is no problem at all! In fact, the majority of my location options are actually on-lead only areas so your dog is required to be on leash regardless of their level of recall.

It actually helps in posing your dog in a lot of different situations!

Come to your shoot with just a standard lead and collar, rather than a harness (a lot of clients have their dogs wear a harness to walk around the location and just switch to the collar for the photos) and I can edit the lead out later on!

Can you guess which of my dog photos I removed lead from?

I had a different location in mind?

I have a location guide that highlights my favourite photoshoot location that are sure to look great in your photos! I have spent many hours testing them to find the best of the best!

However, I am open to location suggestions if you had somewhere specific in mind. I do need to check the location prior to the shoot to make sure it is suitable for a photoshoot. Please give me at least 14 days notice to check the location suitability. Locations outside my travel radius will incur a small, additional travel fee. This will be indicated when requesting a specific location.

I will do my best to give you your chosen location, but please understand that not all locations are suitable for a photoshoot, especially with dogs!

If you have a specific location in mind that is not included in my location guide, please send me the exact spot (street name, access points, a pin in maps, etc.) and some photos (phone photos are perfectly fine) of the area so I can determine suitability.

Can I have my photos printed?

Absolutely! There are a number of different options for prints!
After your photoshoot, if you would like any of your photos printed, simply reach out and we can discuss options that will suit you best!

If you chose to get your photos printed yourself, Photography by Sharnee cannot be held responsible if the quality and colour of prints are not perfect. This is why it is recommended to have your photos printed through Photography by Sharnee as they are printed through a professional photo lab to ensure top quality.

Outfit Examples

Below are some examples of great outfits in terms of colours! Neutral colours are recommended for so many reasons! The more your family matches their outfits, the better the photos will look! If you have a photoshoot booked for your pooch, it is not recommended to wear black as this will show all the dog fur on your clothing, especially if you have a light coloured dog!
